If you know me well, I came from a very religious family. We are not just a typical church-goer every Sunday.
Imagine having a family prayer before bedtime each night, reading the scriptures every day, having family home evenings every Monday night, going to the institute class every weekend, or sometimes a few days in the week, to study religion, aside from coming to church every Sunday, and staying there half the day.
For those unfamiliar with the life of an LDS (latter-day saint), a.k.a. Mormon, that may seem too much, but for a typical church member, that’s normal.
Now? I’m no longer coming to church every Sunday. I actually don’t go at all.
I know. For all those people who knew me, that information is really heartbreaking.
Reading the CES letter is the culprit here, some of you may say. But how did it start, and why did I let it affect my choice now? Why would someone like me, who used to be so excited about the topic of religion, suddenly shift to stillness and almost aloofness?
